Before

This 13 year old female presented with a very difficult malocclusion due to her lower jaw growing more than her upper jaw, both forward and to the left. She had the option to fix her teeth with braces only or with the combination of braces and jaw surgery. She did not desire a change in the appearance of her face so only braces were used and she did not have any permanent teeth extracted. First she wore a palate appliance to widen the upper jaw and then braces for about two years. This allowed the lower jaw to shift to the right and with rubber bands, the teeth were shifted into a better bite. Overall, she has greatly benefited from orthodontic care.
