Before

This 13 year old male presented with inadequate room for his permanent teeth to erupt, a deep overbite and a retrusive lower jaw. He wore braces for about two years to open approximately eight millimeters of space for his adult upper right cuspid to erupt. He also wore elastics or "rubber bands" to stimulate growth in the lower jaw. He did not have any adult teeth extracted, although that was a treatment option. The orthodontic treatment created an esthetic balance in the vertical proportion of the face, an improved profile, and a widened upper arch that harmonized the width of the face and left the patient with a handsome and symmetric result.
