This 12 year old had retroclined upper teeth and an deep overbite. When the teeth fit together in this fashion, the lower jaw is trapped from properly growing forward. He wore braces to procline the upper incisors and create a gap between his upper teeth and lower teeth. This "gap"gives the lower jaw the space to grow and/or reposition forward. While in braces, an additional appliance was attached to his braces to orthopedically position his lower jaw forward. This appliance stimulated growth of the lower jaw to the correct bite. After about two and years of orthodontic treatment this handsome young man enjoys a healthy bite and a great smile.
